We had a great opportunity to experience and capture on photos The Serpentine Pavilion designed by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG). An ‘unzipped wall’ that was transformed from straight line to three-dimensional space, creating a dramatic structure that by day housed a café and free family activities and by night became a space for the Serpentine’s acclaimed Park Nights programme of performative works by artists, writers and musicians.
The Serpentine Pavilion is a massive fictional solid structure at your first perspective with all those solid poetically curved shapes that turn completely immaterial from another perspective.
It is that transition from solid to totally transparent, that gives you a sudden trip through the walls looking straight into to the park. This was one amazing architectural piece of art, where fiction came to life and blended the organic with the environment.
The interior and exterior of The Serpentine Pavilion was an extraordinary, very enjoyable and unique experience that was free and open to the public.
The Serpentine Pavilion by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) ran from June 10 to October 9, 2016 at the Royal Park in Kensington Gardens in London, United Kingdom.
We invite you to tour our photos where you can experience this fascinating one of a kind project.
