Jim Hancock is a graduate of the School of Architecture at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Upon graduation he relocated to Vancouver in 1972 and worked for a number of well-known Vancouver firms before establishing his own practice in 1979. Jim joined Eng, Wright Brückner Partners Architects in 1998. Although Jim is a skilled practitioner in all aspects of architecture, his principle interest has been in housing. In the intervening years Jim has designed and seen constructed literally hundreds of housing projects, and has been the recipient of numerous design awards.
Jim has been active in the community as well, and has been a member of the Architectural Institute of British Columbia Council, Chairman of the Vancouver Urban Design Panel, and an advisor to the Vancouver Development Permit Board. In 2001, Jim was made a fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada.
